Why Your Brand Has to Come Before Your Website
Here's the question I get more than any other.
"Can we just do the website? My logo is fine."
And I completely understand why. The website feels urgent. It's the thing families actually see. Your logo is sitting there on your Instagram doing its job, sort of, and it seems like something you can deal with later.
But here's what I've watched happen more times than I can count.
A therapist builds a beautiful website around a logo she never really loved. Colors that were "close enough." A font she picked because it was the first one that didn't look terrible. The site launches, it looks fine, and for about a year everything is okay.
Then she grows. She adds a service, or hires a clinician, or just gets tired of a brand that never felt like her. So she rebrands.
And the entire website has to come down with it.
New colors mean every section gets rebuilt. A new logo means the header, the favicon, the social graphics, the email signature. What should have been a fresh coat of paint turns into starting over. She pays for the same website twice.
Your brand is the decision. Your website is the execution.
Most therapists think they need a website. What they actually need is clarity.
Who do you serve? What makes you different from the practice down the street? What should a parent feel in the first four seconds of landing on your page?
Those aren't design questions. They're strategy questions. And every single decision on your website depends on the answers.
If we don't have them, I'm just guessing at layouts. Making things look nice without knowing what they're supposed to do. That's how you end up with a site that's pretty and still doesn't bring you referrals.
What "brand first" actually means
It doesn't mean you need a fifty page brand guide before you're allowed to have a website.
It means we get your logo, your colors, and your fonts settled first. One Brand Day. Then when we build the website, every choice already has an answer, and the whole thing goes faster because we're not deciding as we go.
If you already have branding you love, great! We'll do a quick Brand Readiness Review to make sure it can carry a full site, and then we build. If it's not quite there yet, that's completely normal. Almost everyone I work with is in that spot.
Clarity first, design second, and everything after that gets so much easier.
